I do not know where Sam was in 1967, when the device is released. I bought a Pentax SV (Model Honeywell HV), the predecessor of the Spotmatic in 1967, while in Vietnam. Yashica was a success, the soldiers in Vietnam, all TLR and SLR incorporated rangefinders.
Mechanically, this is not the best. Pentax has been completed with the best names, but the goals for the Yashica SLR screwmount at this time as the Pentax, so that the lenses are interchangeable.
I loved my Pentax SV and I wish I had. Had Yashica on the exchange when I bought it is based, I know that I will - even bought excellent if it works now complete.
Would hardly any difference in the final table, no one would know.
Yashica was presented to a very small player at LT, and Pentax is a world leader, surpassing even the Nikon and Canon this time. I Spotmatic 2 (still own) and are simply great cameras. They do not say that the model, so I guess it's just "the Spotmatic, which a pro-level camera in its time.
The only problem could be the battery meter, so check that before buying or the camera.

In 1968 I bought a used Asahi Pentax Spotmatic. It was the first, so there is no provision for their names. He had a good f/1.4 I've always had. The thing was stolen in Philadelphia, although ...
The Yashica uses LEDs instead of fragile needle for the measurement.
Either lens to M42. The lenses do not choose the place that made the difference.
I want to go with the Yashica and the use of their savings to buy a decent goal. http://cgi.ebay.com/YASHICA-TL-ELECTRO-X ...
